The IEEE Computer Society Malaysia Chapter, together with the Centre of Research for Cyber Security & Network (CSNET), Universiti Malaya, is delighted to kick off the 2026 Webinar Series & Professional Workshops with a timely session on what it really means to build software in the age of generative AI.
Session Details
- Title: Post-AI Software Engineer: Re-Engineering Your Skills for the Future
- Date: Wednesday, 20 May 2026
- Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (MYT)
- Format: Online webinar
Synopsis
The rapid rise of generative AI and modern development tools has sparked a critical question across the tech industry: is traditional software engineering becoming obsolete? This webinar cuts through the hype to explore the practical realities of AI's current development and its immediate impact on developers' roles.
Join us as we analyse whether your current technical skills remain relevant, pinpoint the crucial new competencies (from system orchestration to AI collaboration) required to thrive, and show you how to re-engineer your toolkit to transition from a code-writer to a high-value software architect of the post-AI era.
Speaker
Muhammad Ruhaimi bin Habibollah, Senior Software Engineer at Ørsted.
Muhammad Ruhaimi Habibollah is a senior software engineer currently operating as an acting application architect at Ørsted. He has spent more than 10 years working across enterprise applications, performance engineering, data platforms, cloud modernization, and internal engineering tools. In recent years, his work has expanded from writing and optimizing software to shaping architecture decisions, engineering standards, and delivery direction, while also building AI-enabled systems like orchestration platforms and developer tooling. This gives him a practical view of what is really changing in software engineering and what still matters.
Moderator
Dr Muhammad Faiz bin Mohd Zaki, Director, Data and Information Management Centre, Universiti Malaya.
